Steve Wynn is worth around $3 billion. Sheldon Adelson was the wealthiest casino owner with a net worth of $35 billion. During the financial crisis of 2008-2009 the Sands was on the verge of bankruptcy and the shares had plummeted to around $2.28 a share. Even though Adelson owned part of Las Vegas Sands he wasn't obligated to bail them out. He put his own money up and saved the company. That's how he accumulated his $35 billion net wealth with shares now at $56. The shares had plummeted from a high of $138 in 2007 to around $2 in two years. Just an unbelievable drop. Adelson made his initial big score selling his trade show company which included COMDEX, the Las Vegas computer show to Softbank of Japan for $862 million in 1995. COMDEX rivaled CES in Las Vegas as the two biggest yearly conventions. COMDEX was the impetus to build the Sands Convention Center because Adelson wasn't happy having to host the show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Part of CES was at the Sands. Now with the Las Vegas Convention Center expanded they can hold the entire Consumer Electronics Show there without having to use the Sands. They are holding the show virtually this year. If I go in 2022 I will find out if that is what they are going to do.

Love American capitalist success stories.

The guy grew up in working class Dorchester, MA during the depression. His dad was a cab driver. His mom ran a knitting shop. The kid had started two successful businesses by the time he was 15 years old. He dropped out of college and went on to start over 50 businesses and amass a fortune that would leave him in the top fifty richest men in the world.

RIP Sheldon Adelson, a true American entrepreneur. One of the people who made America great.

Look at this headline from the Associated Press story today.

Sheldon Adelson dies: Casino mogul, Trump donor dead after non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma diagnosis

These liberals that run the MSM really are disgusting. In a story running his passing, they just can't help themselves to add he was a Trump donor in the headline. As some sort of shaming. Pure scum.

I remember a few years ago , poster Kermit and I went into the Venetian to watch 1st round MM games...what a great atmosphere they had in that book.. alot of energy and a great vibe.. maybe one of my favorite days ever in Vegas..Besides the Bash , never have seen Kermit that drunk...

But , what they did to that sportsbook , basically turning it into a fuckn library was a big mistake imo... now one of the last places I would watch my action. Didn't help either that they went the WH route...having another number with Cantor was a plus.

Pages of his obit could be devoted to his charity work including the Lou Ruvo Center in LV. (check out a picture of that building). In addition, through this entire COVID crisis, his employees were the best cared for in terms of not missing a paycheck or losing benefits. He has been in ailing health for a couple years. The city owes him a lot.
